If you could, would you Be More Creative
in Your Role?

Today, more than ever, people are looking to change the way things are done. We often see the words ‘disrupt’ or ‘a disruptor’ in business literature.

Creativity will become one of the most important priorities when the global economy starts again. It is likely that the governments of the world will foster innovation much more than previously.

Do you want to become more creative and have more innovative ideas throughout the day?

Changing your mindset is easy, once you know how to do it. Great ideas and insights will spring into your mind like never before.

EXECUTIVE COACHING

Many business owners and high-level executives feel isolated. Discussions with an executive coach about the pressures of assignments and how to handle the politics inherent in every business can be a powerful way to keep a positive mindset, to explore alternative courses of action and to make the right decisions.

I work methodically, but aggressively, towards goals with a strong preference for efficiency. I like big ideas and I expect conversations to move quickly into action.

FOOLS ON THE LOOSE

I am well aware of how taking risks can lead to disaster.

Years ago, when I was still a young engineer, I had to smuggle 500 kg of explosives out of Tripoli, the capital of Libya.

The reason was that the Americans were going to bomb the city. Understandably, Tripoli was in a state of turmoil. Threats were made that expatriates would be used as human shields to deter bombing. I was very anxious. Being caught with explosives  was dangerous. I could have been shot!

It took three Toyota pick-ups to load all the explosives and hide them under garbage. I could not tell the drivers. Eventually we made it through many check points and into the desert.

I had to go through all this nonsense because some fool had been storing explosives in the middle of a city.

The extremely distressing explosion in Beirut, Lebanon, is a stark reminder that nothing much has changed from 50 years ago.

COMMON CHALLENGES EXPERIENCED IN BUSINESS

Do you Wish You Could Negotiate Better?

Negotiation and communication are perhaps the most important skills we need in business to get our needs met, while successfully maintaining our relationships.

Typically, we learn these skills during childhood by copying adults, often our parents, and our peers. Unfortunately, these people may not be very skilled.

In business, the consequences can be staggering: Most people do not know how to communicate and to negotiate!

Without these two skills, it is impossible to be an effective leader.

Unable to get their needs met, they live in a constant state of anxiety.

The process is straightforward but difficult to use on your own:

1. Assess the current environment and the reasons why the communication and negotiation skills need to be upgraded.

2. Find the deep-seated beliefs, values, attitudes and behaviours that lead to poor communication and unsuccessful negotiations.

3. Adopt quickly, new beliefs, values, attitudes and behaviours that lead to excellent communication and successful negotiations.

4. Learn to communicate and negotiate while being deeply aware of the environment and how it reacts.

5. Learn to influence the environment according to your values, beliefs and desires.

Do you feel often stressed and anxious
About The Future?

With the increasing complexity of our society, the level of anxiety is steadily rising.

Constant changes, conflicts, financial concerns and fear of the unknown can become overwhelming. Threats start to appear larger than they are and it becomes challenging to keep clarity of mind.

In such an environment, leading or being part of the team can be difficult.

PERSONAL BRANDING

yoga2-free-img.png

What is Personal Branding?

Personal Branding is managing how you want to be perceived by others.

  • If you are an employee, how do you want your boss and your peers to see you?
  • If you are a job seeker, how do you want potential employers to judge you?
  • If you are an entrepreneur, how do you want to be seen in your industry?
  • If you are a leader, how do you want your followers to talk about you?

Every person we meet will leave us with an opinion of who we are.
It is in our interest to ensure that opinion will be favourable.

Why is Personal Branding So Important For Employees?

Many executives in large corporations seem to believe that their work is stable and protected.

Studies of the last 50 years and the recent degradation of the global economy clearly shows that this is not the case.

In a world where many people share similar expertise, it is essential to differentiate yourself from your competition. You should add as much value to the business that employs you as possible.

Every employee must think as the best consultants have done for years. They must:

  • Train & learn regularly
  • Continually develop their personal brand
  • Work with a personal executive coach.

Is a Resume Sufficient to Interest a Recruiter?

I enclose below a link to an article from Forbes:
Why Your Resume Isn’t Working For You — And How To Fix It

This is an excellent article for employees who are looking for work.
Thank you, Hanna, and thank you, Forbes.

Although a resume is essential to recruiters, it may not be enough to get you hired. In 2020, you also need to:

    • Know where you want to be in 10 years. Many employees have never clarified their career path. If this is your case, time to change that.
    • Show how you will bring value to your future employer. To be able to do that you need to research companies thoroughly in advance. It is never too late to start.
    • Explain why you are different from your competition.
Becoming clear about your differences may take a while, so keep in touch with your industry and know yourself.
    • Develop and grow over the years, non only as an excellent team player but also as a leader. Nowadays, reading, writing and studying are essential ingredients for a satisfying career.

In conclusion, yes, have a great resume and… dare to be be different!
